One Year of House of Xolile: A Note of Gratitude

It has been a minute since I’ve sat down to write a blog post, but as we celebrate one full year in business, I want to pause—inhale the scent of progress—and simply say: Thank You. Gracias. Grazie. To each of you in our audience (yes, even if it’s just 12 of you, lol).

The past year has been a whirlwind. We soft-launched in July 2024 with our website and online store, and in just a few months, things expanded faster than I could have imagined. All while balancing my corporate 9–5, I came home each evening to pour into this dream. Since then, we’ve picked up two new commercial projects with timelines stretching over a year to allow for design and construction, as well as four new residential projects. Recently, we’ve also welcomed an intern to support marketing and expansion, and brought on a Project Manager and Bookkeeper to help us grow with intention.

Another proud moment? In July, we had our very first magazine feature in Herggruv Magazine, an incredible up-and-coming brand based in Los Angeles. To see House of Xolile spotlighted in print felt surreal—and reminded me of how far a vision can go when you trust the process.

Of course, it hasn’t always been easy. There have been moments of fear, overwhelm, and doubt. When people ask me, “How does it feel to run a business?” my honest response is usually: I feel delusional. On days without sales or new project inquiries, delusion is what keeps me going. I once saw a meme that said, “Coca-Cola only sold 25 bottles in its first year. Keep going.” And so, I do.

Now, stepping into Year 2, I feel both grounded and energized. Growth and expansion are on the horizon. Our online store continues to be curated with art and home goods that bring intentional beauty into your spaces. And—this is exciting—we’re developing a membership program that will offer our community exclusive perks: added discounts, access to trade pricing, and the ability to shop major retailers like Restoration Hardware, CB2, Arhaus, and West Elm at special rates. (Yes, you read that right—trade pricing!)
